Sqf Level 2

Seco Spice is proud to announce it has achieved SQF Level 2 certification as a result of its recent audit under the Safe Quality Food program.

This is an important industry standard which distinguishes Seco Spice as having attained a high level of food safety management.

“As a food company, this is certainly a very important accomplishment,” says Edward Ogaz, President of Seco Spice. “SQF certification distinguishes us as one of the first chile processors in the southwest to achieve this standard. Furthermore, what makes us unique in the US market is that we are also certified for green chile.”

SQF certification is an international food safety program that is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GSI). GFSI recognized programs such as SQF, BRC, etc., require suppliers to meet various criteria on their food safety management system. These requirements are designed to protect the food supply chain. In addition, SQF Level 2 distinguishes the supplier as having an accredited HACCP plan for food safety.

In a world where food safety is a growing concern for consumers, having a food safety program in place is increasingly important for food processors. Large retailers and industry giants are driving the push for more food safety and requiring their suppliers to be certified to a recognized GFSI program.

Seco Spice has been in the industry for more than 19 years. It has been supplying spice and other food manufacturers with world famous New Mexico chile. These include well known varieties of chile as well as custom blends.
